Meet Team Fire and Fuel Apparel’s Newest Athlete

 

We are proud to announce our newest international team member Shantelle Malawski from Canada. She joins an incredible group of firefighter athletes on Team Fire and Fuel Apparel. Her passion for fitness and the fire service will only make this team even stronger. 

The team is made up of athletes that excel in several different sports from the United States and Canada. The entire team shares one main goal and that is to be fit for duty through their entire career. Through there had work and determination they are able to be excellent example for the fire service on and off the job. Shantelle Malawski Bio

I was born and raised in Toronto. I currently reside in the busy downtown core. I grew up playing sports. I played Provincial level Ringette until I was 17 years old and softball during the summers. My mom always wanted me to be feminine like her. She would try putting me in dance and gymnastics. Any excuse to get me into something pink and sparkly. Sometimes I think she pushed so hard for a girly girl, she got the opposite result. I was a Professional Wrestler under contract by WWE and then Total Nonstop Action from 2006 until 2011. In 2011, I happily retired, hung up the spandex and enrolled in the Pre-Service Training and Education program at Humber College. I spent the next 4 years doing everything possible to get hired as a full time firefighter. In January 2015, I was hired by Toronto Fire Services. As soon as I could I joined the Toronto Fire combat team. It is by far the hardest sport I’ve ever trained for. However, it is hands down the most rewarding. My team is full of colourful personalities, hard workers and amazing mentors. I feel so fortunate. It’s strengthened me both mentally and physically for the job. I know I’m a lifer to the sport. In my spare time I Olympic lift, Crossfit, run after my Boston Terrier Moose, teach First Aid and CPR, and go to lots of heavy music shows with my husband.
